How Our Federal Prison Consulting Process Works
We break the federal prison process into four clear, predictable steps so you know exactly what’s happening and why.
Our 4-Step Approach
-
Step I- Intake & Case Review
We begin by gathering every critical detail of your case through our encrypted, attorney-protected intake form. Our team then reviews your Presentence Report (PSR), Judgment & Commitment order, indictment, medical history, and any other filings that may affect Bureau of Prisons (BOP) decisions. From this, we create a clear case timeline that highlights your current legal status, surrender date if applicable, and any pending hearings or motions. This structured process ensures nothing is overlooked and sets the foundation for advocacy. Our focus is to give you clarity, reduce uncertainty, and ensure you have direction from the very start.
Timeframe: 1–3 business days after receiving documents
Deliverable: Written case assessment with next steps
Outcome: Clear direction on where you stand and the actions to take before designation
-
Step II- Personalized Strategy
After the case review, we create a strategy tailored to your unique situation. We align your security level, medical and mental health needs, program eligibility, and family proximity with the most suitable Bureau of Prisons (BOP) options. If sentencing has not yet occurred, we also provide Presentence Report (PSR) optimization guidance to ensure favorable language that supports placement and program access. You receive a prioritized facility recommendation list with justifications, factoring in health care, protective concerns, and personal priorities. This strategy becomes the blueprint for action. We remain fully committed to supporting your case and guiding your family every step of the way.
Timeframe: 5–7 business days after case review
Deliverable: Strategy document with facilities, programs, and advocacy points
Outcome: A targeted plan for achieving the safest and most beneficial placement
-
Step III- Implementation
We bring your plan into action. Our consultants prepare and submit facility designation requests, program petitions such as RDAP, and medical accommodation applications. If you have legal counsel, we coordinate closely to ensure consistent communication with both the court and Bureau of Prisons. We draft advocacy letters and supporting documents for judges, probation officers, and the Designation & Sentence Computation Center (DSCC). With persistent follow-up, we ensure requests remain active until finalized. This structured advocacy strengthens your positioning for outcomes that benefit your placement, programs, and family proximity.
Timeframe: 10–14 business days, with follow-up until designation is final
Deliverable: Copies of all submissions and correspondence for your records
Outcome: Stronger positioning for designation, program access, and family proximity
-
Step IV- Ongoing Support
Our support extends beyond designation. From designation through surrender, we monitor your case, provide timely updates, and prepare you and your family for every transition. This includes pre-surrender preparation with packing lists, BOP rule guides, and personal property recommendations, along with coaching on deposits, communication systems, and visitation. If placement outcomes differ from requests, we immediately activate contingency plans for appeals or transfers. You remain supported throughout the process, entering each stage informed, confident, and prepared rather than uncertain or fearful. We are dedicated to protecting your interests and ensuring your family feels supported throughout the entire process.
Timeframe: From designation through surrender date (or transfer)
Deliverable: Weekly updates, readiness checklist, and navigator access
Outcome: You and your family arrive fully informed, confident, and ready
